Worm Watch Lab Talk

Play video high speed first?

  • Lumpen by Lumpen

I find myself skipping ahead in the videos looking for any sign of eggs in the 30 seconds and then going back to flag the times when they were laid, if any were laid at all.

Also, the worm in the cartoon picture has eyes, where are the eyes on the real worms? 😉

I found myself doing this as well after awhile! Only thing to watch out for is if the worm moves very quickly. It might lay an egg then move enough so the egg is off-screen when the video ends. Sounds like you are aware of this, just wanted to point it out to anyone else.

Lumpen, scrolling through quickly can work well as long as it's not so fast that you miss something. (I do the same thing myself). It's also great to get as precise a time for the event as possible.

It's true that the real worms don't have eyes to form images, but they are sensitive to light! If you shine a bright blue light on them they'll reverse to try to get away from it.
