Importance of when an egg is laid

  • JJBehr by JJBehr

Was just curious as to why it's important to note when an egg was laid versus just counting all the eggs after a certain time period. Are you trying to see how often an egg is laid?

Yes, in part we want to see how often eggs are laid but we're also interested in how the other behaviours of the worm are related to egg laying. For example, is there a particular posture that worms are more likely to adopt when they lay eggs? We know that speed is related to egg laying, but what about other aspects of locomotion? In trying to answer those questions, we need to know when the egg was laid.

Was wondering about that too. Been trying to predict it. So far my guesses have been wrong. Thanks.
