Do majority of the eggs laid result in a successful birth? How long does it take for the egg to hatch?

I don't have a number, but for wild type worms in good conditions the vast majority of eggs hatch normally and lead to adults. Once they're laid, they take about 10 hours to hatch. But as you can see for some mutants that retain their eggs, they can actually hatch inside of the mother if they're retained long enough.

    10 hours! That's quick. Thanks.
